Several town in New Jersey have contracted with IXP, a private company, to operate their communications center. Not only is this an economic savings for the towns involved, but allows for better communications. Current communications officers from the affected towns are encouraged to apply at IXP for employment.
This is something PBSO should consider due to their inability to fill the empty positions in communications, and the constant disarray displayed by the communications officers.
Other civilian units in PBSO that should be considered for privatization are:
Background investigation, Human Resources, Fleet Services, just to name a few.
Sworn units to consider would be:
Aviation, Internal Affairs, would be the best choices
Now for the administration to come into the 21st century would be the difficult task.
