To all members of the PD who read this blog: When did it become acceptable to commit cannibalism? The agency I came up in was a family. We looked out for each other and took care of each other. Yes, people did bad things and sometimes got caught. But, when that happened we still tried to help the person through the tough times. When the 'crime" was so bad that help was out of the question, we simply remained silent. What we did not do is call the media and dish dirt on one another. Now, the "new normal" is to alert the media and embark on smear campaigns. From the Detter story to the Pike/Clark story to the latest story about Maale, phone calls were made to the media and tips were passed along.

Do those that commit these "crimes" against your fellow officers hate your agency and your fellow brothers and sisters so much that you do not care that you are ruining the name of the place at which you work? Do you not understand that bad publicity leads to less citizen confidence? Do you not understand that when you bargain for raises and benefits it is the citizens that must have your back? They will not support an agency that has a tarnished reputation and those that dish dirt (often times based on rumors and false information) are committing the biggest sin. Think before you speak.

If you can not support each other then at the least remain silent. Everyone screws up from time to time and must pay for mistakes made. But, what is fundamentally wrong is when those within the agency commit the bigger sin of spreading lies and false rumors to the media. Think before you speak, think of yourself if you are so selfish that you can not consider the feelings of those that you hurt. Every time you spread a lie or alert the media you hurt yourself and your own future.

Are you saying that it is OK for the PD to remain silent when they know one of their fellow officers falsifies arrest records to cover up the truth, test-a-lies in court, commits police abuse or misconduct, helps in the cover-up, etc., etc., etc.? No wonder PBC is called Corruption County. Do you really think the citizens that pay your salary and give raises don't already know what goes on? It is about time we have a forum like this to help bring it ALL out in the open. It only takes a few bad cops to corrupt the whole department. Maybe you should think before you write. It could be hurting your own future.

Please tell me you are kidding. How about this - how about if the ones committing crimes too terrible to talk about, they instead think of their brothers and sisters and don't do them? If you want to talk about selfish, it is selfish for them to put the honorable members of law enforcement in the position of having to take action. If you came be ethical and moral enough to do the right thing, get a job doing something else because I Guarantee there are many others waiting to fill the ranks that can.

Your state of mind that cops should remain silent when a crime is committed simply because the perpetrator is a cop is sickening.

I USUALLY SUPPORT YOU , DEPUTY DOG BECAUSE I FEEL THAT YOU HAVE DEVELOPED A BOARD THAT PEOPLE CAN SOUND UPON, BUT, THIS COMMENT IS WHAT IS MAKING US NOT SUPPORT YOU. I APPLAUDED YOU WHEN YOU TOOK DOWN THE RIDICULOUS MONTAGE OF KEYBOARD COMMANDOS IN REF TO THE FEMALE OFFICERS OF THIS AGENCY, BUT, I CAN'T APPLAUD YOU FOR YOUR LAST LINE IN THIS COMMENT!! THE OFFICER NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT COPS REMAINING SILENT WHEN A CRIME IS COMMITTED MEANING IT SHOULD BE SWEPT UNDER THE RUG. WHAT THIS OFFICER IS SAYING IS THAT TO KEEP OUR MOUTHS SHUT AND NOT EXPOUND UPON WHAT IS GOING ON . HE SPECIFICALLY SAYS TO SUPPORT YOUR OFFICERS AS BEST AS YOU CAN CONSIDERING THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF WHICH THE OFFICER GOT INTO TROUBLE FOR AND IF YOU CANT, JUST SHUT UP AND LET THE LEGAL OR DEPARTMENTAL RULES TAKE OVER. WHAT HE IS SAYING THAT IT ISN'T NECESSARY TO GO TO THE MEDIA, BLOGS OR WHOMEVER TO SHOUT IT TO THE WINDS. THAT IS WHAT HE IS SAYING. SO DEPUTY DOG, STOP TRYING TO FORCE THE EMBERS TO THE FIRE. THIS ONE YOU ARE WRONG!!!!!!

Hey Bud, don't you know what sight you are on! It is the PBSO TALK EXPOSING SHERIFF BRADSHAW's CULTURE OF CORRUPTION. We are't talking about doctors, lawyers, nurses, etc. If you don't like what people write on here, don't read it. By the way you sound like a West Palm Beach Cop.

Hey - my bad. I read the initial post in a half-arse manner and didn't pay attention to the context. I still don't believe cops that can live to a higher standard should be cops but I see the point of the original post and I agree with it for the most part. I say "for the most" part because sometimes, like with PBSO, leaking the information to the media is the only way to get fair justice and get rid of the dirtbags. I do wholeheartedly disagree with the personal attacks though, which is why I delete most of the personal attacks on females and regular deputies.

It is time for the Feds to step in, just as they have done in other PB County Departments. PBSO has evolved to a FULLY CORRUPT DEPARTMENT. Even the "Good Guys" are afraid of retaliation. There is a culture of BULLYING that comes from the top. Bradshaw bullies our commissioners at every turn. He threatens them with "Crime Fear" whenever they try to manage any part of the County Police. Ask any attorney in the nation and they will say "stay away from PB County."
The PB Post has been the only light shed on public employees that are liers, cheaters, thieves, pornograhers, vilent criminals and shakedown artists that pass themselves off as police just because they put on the uniform. How many cops have been found guilty of crimes but ARE STILL ON THE FORCE. The culture of corruption will lead to a culture of fear FROM or police. Crime has not gone down although the budget keeps going up. FEAR will do that.

Why wasn't Bradshaw fired from WPB Police when he was caught staeling a gun from the evidence lock-up?

Whose bright idea was it to bring Ortman out of retirement as the PIO for wpbpd? This guy looks like he's 80 years old and that white beard is a disgrace to public service. He can't even put two sentences together for christ sake. Lets face it he didn't do squat as a cop either for years now this? I sure hope this Cincy chief has some brains. By the way I do give this mayor alot of credit for telling the PBA to go screw and bringing in an outsider as the chief. Great job on that mayor but Ortman still a disgrace!
